Means of trading

Hey All,

Is there a solid way of trading items? I've tried with my friends that we lost a hatchet when it was dropped on the ground (disappeared). Now we have a canteen which could go around with water, however, we are a bit nerveous about dropping it on the ground, should it disappear.

So how do people trade?

If it's a teammate then walk up to him, aim at his backpack and open it. Then move items over like you would to your own backpack.
