Having issues with steam..

Recommended Posts

Well, I decided to reinstall DayZ S/A after a few months break. At the time I was playing standalone but I figured I'd hop back into it with what the standalone offered, since it's had some time to grow. Everything seemed to be going well until, well...I can't find anything but experimental servers. Maybe over a dozen of them at most.

Let me be clear, I completely wiped my directory of anything STEAM related on my hard-drive. I went through all the common sense tactics to uninstall DayZ from Steam. So I figured ok, as long as it's uninstalled, I can reinstall the stable version onto my desktop and start playing! Wrong!. I loaded the game up, went to the server browser, and it was nothing but exp. servers, no stable build servers what so ever.

Let me be the first to say I tried the trick where you could run both experimental and stable on the same hard-drive via some switchery with the files in my steam-apps follder. Some clever re-naming of the files, and swapping them around so the experimental thought it was the stable dayz standalone, and vice versa. Soon found out that did not work.

Ok, next step: Deleted everything to do with dayz, steam, everything. Started with a fresh slate. Reinstalled DayZ as well as Arma 2 and Operation Arrowhead, since I still like to play the mod as often as possible for stuff like Overwatch and Epoch, aka; Overpoch. Turns out that didn't turn out so well due to some version mismatch. I can play Epoch well, and normal DayZ mod just fine.

Now, to end this short story. Every single time I reinstall the DayZ standalone, it is in the experimental version, and I can barely get it to run o nthe servers that are present. Like I said, I've tried rolling things back, verfying my steam cache, everything a normal person would sink of. It's almost as like, I'm gonna need to do a complete reformat of windows, a fresh install of steam and a fresh install of DayZ SA on top of it just to get the game I want.

Has ANYONE experienced this. Does ANYONE have a solution. Don't get me wrong, I like the experimental version, but I'm a late night gamer due to work hours and the population for exper. servers are pretty weak while standard servers are good enough to enjoy myself while playing.

Short short: My DayZ install is defaulting to experimental no matter what I do. No mater that I opt out of the beta program / experimental client. I'm out of options here. I just want the game to run good and reliability as it used to, along with Arma 2 Arrowhead and Epoch, Overwatch, etc. Even in Arma 2, I'm lucky if I can join maybe 10-14% of the servers(lower population mind you.)

Please help..

I'll try to answer any questions you have. Just keep in mind prior to my dayz hiatus, I played every day without so much as one hiccup.

I think the servers are down for maintenance right now.
