veranish 0 Posted June 30, 2012 So, I have been a victim of server hoppers whom also DC if they fail to kill you several times now.I understand it's being worked on and patiently await their fix.However, a lot of suggestions seem to be disconnect based, and while that would be good, i think a distinctive directchat-ranged chime would be useful when someone logs on. this way when someone is camping say a barracks, if someone spawns in inside the barracks, it would alert whomever is in the area.This combats hoppers, forces them to rethink their strategy, and generally encourages players to find a safe spot to log out, which for those whom enjoy realism reinforces finding a safe spot to sleep. General DCers would also be fought using this, as players they fight and dc against will immediately know they are back, and it doesnt seem terrifically hard to implement, not that I particularly understand scripting for this engine. lockpwnage 2 Posted June 30, 2012 Oh realism by the way, when i wakeup I will set out a chime so people know I just woke up so they can be prepared to own me. What i was thinking like zombies don't let other players spawn within like 30m and if the logout and spawn ontop of you just have them spawn 30m away or something. lockpwnage 2 Posted June 30, 2012 Or make one server that you perma stay on and your char will sleep in a spot (Still be in the game world even when loged off) Of course that would result in ALOT of complaining etc. A sound is good but if the spawn right behind them and you just happen to shoot something right as they spawn and dont hear the sound your still dead either way. veranish 0 Posted June 30, 2012 Which would be fine, you missed the sound. If i am in a situation where I think i might get spawned in on, I will be listening for that particular sound. If I miss it, I miss it and could get killed that way, but if they are anywhere nearby then you should hear it, not taking in Helicopter wash or straight SAW fire.It's a method of battling it without destroying any systems, or hard coding in strange detectors, such as when that knock out system got implemented. For example, you could make all buildings enterable, and a player could go inside and barricade the doors, and log off. Leave his body in the world, asleep, but he is safe because the barricades are impossible to break. Not all players have access to such barricades, so players are rewarded for obtaining these tools and finding safety.Problems occur when the player wants to leave, and finds campers waiting outside. They will relog to be pointing at their last known and be far enough so they aren't in the city.This should only work at 'hot spots' like NW, NE, Balota, Cherno (Of course :]) Elektro, Berezino, ect. I'm in town and I want to get out of town fast. Log off log back in again, bam! I'm out of town. Same goes for barricaded houses. This should be done either way.I agree, it should be per server based. But at the minute it isn't and chances are it will never be as it seems Rocket wants to keep all his eggs in one basket. I think they are worried that the second servers become independent from the main database, people will just start chopping and hacking the game as they see fit and Rocket would lose any real control over his mod.
