Help! I can't respawn!

I don't know what's going on. The respawn button is greyed out all the time. I thought you could respawn anytime you wanted, not just when you die?

It's so frustrating being completely and utterly lost without any chance of dying so you respawn at least somewhere near a random town or whatever. I was literally running around for two hours and all I saw were forests and fields.

Correction to his post. You can only respawn if you go unconscious or you die. But there are ways to commit suicide, for example jump off a high place and fall. Be creative or find a map so you know where you are and where you want to go.

When you loot a map, it shows your position? That would be helpful, because I am lost all the time. I can't even figure out where I am, so basically I am lost since the moment I spawn :( And my orientation skills are pretty much nonexistant.

 No it doesnt show where you are, maybe the game isnt really suited for you, i mean orientation is the basic thing about this game ^^

If you "literally" run for two hours, you should hit either the coast or the debug plains/end of the map. Given the fact you were running straight and not in circles. Which should be impossible in DayZ. You meant you were "figuratively" running for two hours. And yeah, sometimes it feels like a long time before seeing some sign of civilisation. Try to use the sun for navigation. That helps much.

Guess I should really learn the cyrillic script to at least identify the names of towns, heh. But I still don't like the idea of using a map on the internet. On the other hand, when I spawn somewhere in the "mainland" and would like to go either die on the airfield or check one of the cities, I am basically completely lost because I have no idea which direction to go.

I guess I should keep an eye for compasses at the very least.

The game is much more difficult than I thought (and I expected it to be, heh) :D

 

P.S. I managed to run in circles twice. Don't ask me why, but I visited the same town 2-3 times. Sounds hopeless eh?
