So, I decided to take a look at a bunch of plants that fit into DayZ:

Gooseberries

Tasty berries that can be dried, canned, or turned into a syrup. Found throughout Eurasia, and according to wikipedia, its very common in villages in the Czech Republic.

Not only does beechwood make excellent firewood and leaves a tasty smoky flavor to meats, the fatty nuts coming from this centeral and northern european tree can be eaten

Chaga Mushroom

This ugly black fungus has been used in eastern European traditional medicine for hundreds of years. Found on birch trees, it is used as an anti-inflammatory, cancer treatment, and immunotherapy.

Chamomile

Common alongside Eurasian roads and landfills, Chamomile has many uses, such as anti-bacterial, upset stomachs, and anti-inflammation

Sunflowers

Although originating in North America, sunflowers became very popular in Russia in the 18 century due to being Lent-friendly. Not only are the seeds tasty and the oil can be used for human consumption, but it can also be turned into a biofuel. Sunflowers are already in the game, but the model is from ARMA II and is kinda outdated,

I like your ideas! I'm sure they'll add more plants and interactions with them. But I see it much later down the development line.
