Looting Your Own Gear?

Can you loot your own items if you die? Can you respawn and make your way to your own corpse and collect your gear? Or can you remove your gear and hide it (like in the forest) and respawn and make your way back to where you hid the items and collect them? This might have been covered already ad nauseam. If so I apologize.

Yes you can, but with the current version, 1.7.1.5, sometimes the body will not stay around long enough for you to loot. Plus, you have to beat other players to your corpse. But yes, you can!

Items that are dropped spawn after X time. Camping tents act as storage units for items. They are like chests that others may loot, but only you can pick back up.
