roger___rutten@live.nl 4 Posted August 19, 2014 i there a way you can implement some sort of zombie kill counter? so we can keep track how many zombies we kill in a life span? also, is there a way the get a kill feed? too see how killed how, and who died (by zombie or suicide). this would also help get rid of frustration when you see 'you are dead' but didn't hear a shot or see anyone. then you can see in the killfeed that you were shot and killed by a player. reason for these two things, today i died at NWAF inside a barn where i was scouting the field with 2 of my friends. no one saw anyone or anything, and never heared a shot. and suddenly i was dead. they never saw or encountered a player or even a zombie after that. my guess it was a bug, but you can imagine the frustration. reason for the zombie kill counter, up to the above described incident i survived for almost a week (24 game hours) and had killed many zombies along the way. but found a few moments where i had nothing to do and my inventory was full with 3 pistols, food and ammo for a month...... i think it would be cool to go on a zombie hunt and try to get as many zombie kills as possible.. would be cool to have the server keep scores. ideas and comments on this? tobias winfro 305 Posted August 19, 2014 Its been proposed before on both counts, people are going to balk at the idea of a kill feed more so than the zombie kill counter. Be prepared for the butt hurt though, some people don't want you to know who it was that shot you in the skull. If you died at the nwaf its just safe to assume you got picked off, there are sound glitches where you won't hear the shot. Knowing who killed who could open up a whole new mess because there are some talented snipers and pvpers in this game and if they go on a rampage people could put out "contracts" on them which can in turn lead to griefing and other such shenanigans. I'm not sure about both the kill feed and zombie counter, it just takes away time from fixing bugs like being in game for 10-20 minutes and then get random disconnects or the duping issues, unlimited ammo magazines or any other exploit being used at the moment. Just my 3 cents

I like the idea of zombie killing counter. But i would rather see something like a tooth or ear you can pickup from a dead zombie. Make some sort of badass necklace or something. Then you could keep track, without an annoying number on your screen. And telling you who you died from is kinda a dead idea. The fun/shitty part of dying in this game is the fact that you dont know if it was someone who you dont know, or your friend you were playing with.
roger___rutten@live.nl 4 Posted August 20, 2014 your necklace idea is awesome :P i played a lot of call of duty so i had the image of a score board in front of my face :( but your argument on the killfeed i find a little wierd. i get where you are coming from.. but the fact that i died is not so much my problem.. it's more that most of the time i die without knowing why.. and if i were to guess.. right now i would say 100% of my death are because of bugs.... (died 3 times in 28 hours gameplay) because never seen or heared a player shoot and neither was there a zombie near me. plus i head friends scouting the vicinity next to me also not hearing shots or anything.. it just sais. 'you are dead' and i have to start my new adventure :(

Just my 3 centsok you have a good point about players not wanting to let everyone know they killed you. so make the killfeed anonymous. just say something like -survivor (weapon of kill) 'killed player'. something like this would satisfy my death. or zombie has slain and eaten 'player name/ you' can even make the killfeed player only. so only you can read what killed you. lik -suicide, dumbass! sad to have this sound bug confirmed :(:( thought it could be something like that. guess that's what happened to me then. and your last remark is something i forgot about. indeed i much rather have them work out all of the buggs and glitches than go to work on any of my great spinsels of the mind... so you get some beans too :)
stielhandgranate 480 Posted August 20, 2014 The mod Dayz:Breaking point had a journal that had kill marks for zombies, days alive and players killed. I think such an item would fit in game.

He asked what happened and said if he was shot he never heard anything and I told him my side of it, seeing the blood was the only confirmation I had he was shot. Kinda frustrating not knowing which way to run
Robert Neville 59 Posted August 20, 2014 (edited) Being unable to know how you died is a big part of the atmosphere of the game. A killfeed would ruin it. No to a zombie kill counter for the same reason. Edited August 20, 2014 by Robert Neville
arlingtine 27 Posted August 20, 2014 tooth necklace is a good idea. maybe teeth for zombies and ears for bandits. killcam... i dont think its as good of an idea. would be cool to watch but would make revenge to easy. one in a group of 3 is shot in head. watches killcam. then tells other 2 where the shot came from. that takes too much away from the game
roger___rutten@live.nl 4 Posted August 22, 2014 ok maybe the term killfeed is wrong. i just meant that in stead of just seeing you are dead. it would show, you were shot (in the face, knee, arm or whatever maybe added). doesnt have to have names.
