FLAGS! Wait Don't Shoot!

At the moment in Dayz, once you spot another player it is most likely shoot or be shoot at. I find this very unfortunate. The problem is that once a player detects another player and notices a gun in his/her hand he/she will shoot to ensure his/her own survival.

A possible way to fix this may be to add flags that go into your toolbelt and once equipped it will be equipped in your primary slot. Players running around with a flag will be unable to shoot until they equip a primary weapon or switch to their secondary. This (maybe white) flag will then show other players that this person is no threat and therefore they may just not shoot him/her.

This idea is also useful for people who want to play as a medic. They could for example have a white flag with a red cross in the middle indicating that they are medics wondering around helping people. Of course flags will need to be found first, however they should not be rare. For example medic flags could be found in hospitals

What do you think about this? This might just fix the shoot or be shot issue there is with the game at least for recently spawned players.

This wouldn't curb pking or kos at all. If anything, a person carrying a flag is an even bigger target.

i was sort of thinking about this however just because your waving a flag around wont stop the average COD player from filling you full of lead i think this would be more of a negative thing because once the person with the flag starts to get shot at they have to go into their bag to pull out a (Good) weapon in order to defend them self.

no i don't think this would take the reality out of the game if this would happen in real life i would think of something like this in order to show people that im friendly

Nah they would just get killed anyway. The paranoia is actually kind of funny in this game. People get freaking nuts lol.

I would like some medic skins at some point though. That would be useful for anyone wanted to RP as a medic type.

So waving a white flag IRL is not possible? I don't get your post how does this take the reality out of the game. If anything players shooting on sight because they are scared is what has taken the reality out of the game. I doubt that people would shoot on sight IRL. People can still shoot you with the flag, so they can shoot whenever they want.

Maybe maybe not :) About medic skins I think its an excellent idea however people will misuse it so a medic would still get shot on sight, however if the medic could show other players that he/she are unable to shoot it might change the situation, that is where the flag comes in.

YES but ordinary players who are not bandits would not! :) They will not be so paranoid and therefore not shoot as they see that the other person can't possibly be a threat.
