DayZ unplayable on GTX 770

Recommended Posts

So I've got a new computer only to play DayZ.

The specs are:

  • i5 4690K
  • MSI GTX 770 Twin Frozr

Still, the game is barely to unplayable, especially in cities. My fps drop to about 25fps in big cities on pretty low settings (GeForce experience settings).

I also get tons of random lag spikes. For example i go though a smaller city with 30fps and every 20-30 seconds i drops down to 20/25fps.

It's really annoying because i only got this computer to be able to play on the highest settings at decent fps. I'm so sad right now. :(

So is there anything wrong with my PC or is DayZ just so unoptimized? And if have you guys got any solutions for the low fps/lag spikes?

its a game in development, you will encounter bad performance and even gamebreaking issues. From my experience it has been a pretty smooth ride so far, i know of alpha stages where game code was really unplayable for weeks - unplayable means the game did not launch at all. 25FPS is pretty good.

so yeah, tl,dr: your post is one of the 86,3% where "alpha" is the appropriate response to give.

Are you serious?
Did you just buy a new computer in hope of that your FPS in DayZ would get better?
At the games current state it doesn't matter how good your computer is, the fps will still suck in citys or big towns.
Why? Because the game isn't optimized, the graphic engine is shit and the game still only runs with bloody directx9, and i don't know if there's any truth to this but i have been told that DayZ atm only can use 1 of your processors cores.
I have a clocked Windforce gtx770, 8gb ram and a i5 3570k (clocked to 4.7ghz) and i play Dayz with medium/low settings and more or less everything in rendering turned off and in big citys my fps is between 20-30 while in games like FarCry, crysis, Bf4, Wow etc i play with the most settings at the highest and rarely drop under 60fps.

Wow. DayZ really sucks in terms of performance.

Yeah, reason number one why I don't even really bother playing SA as of now. The main point I worry about is wether performance will actually be better or not in future development of the game..

i5 4670K and GTX 770 OC version, 8gb ram 2.4ghz and SSD even on max settings i got 40+ fps in towns, just tweak your settings a bit, dont let nvidia to optimize game for you

How should I tweak my settings?

Also you probably get frames that good because you're running it on an SSD.

Realized this wasn't mod section.

Yeah Dayz SA performance is shit. Try overclocking your cpu to 4.5ghz (might give you around 5 more fps), and keep objects detail on very low.

My real problem are the huge lagspikes though! If I'm in a city i get around 30-40fps and then i suddenly drops down for a short time to 20-25. And the same thing in the woods and everywhere else just with higher framerates.
