Dagwood 680 Posted August 6, 2014 snip.Well it depends on what you are trying to accomplish playing dayz. Are you here for the adrenaline pumping firefights? The socializing/player interaction? Roleplaying? Exploring? Collecting the rarest/best equipment? The dayzdb map is a double edged sword. On one hand, it can very quickly teach you where to go to get the gear you want. On the other, it will basically remove any excitement or challenge that comes from getting lost and then finding your way. If you're in it for the pvp, by all means use the online map. But if you want a more "immersive" experience, I suggest you collect the map fragments in game and use those to find your way. Not looking up roadsign names online and having to orient yourself with the topographical map on game can actually teach you a good life skill (land navigation). But above all, mix it up to keep things fresh. Repeating the same effective looting route over and over again is boring and will teach you very little in the long run. Merc. 37 Posted August 6, 2014 (edited) Usually you'll spawn on the coast. I like to run straight north to Svet, then move towards Nova and its 3 surrounding towns (especially the one south for the firestation). From there I take the train tracks all the way west to NWAF and then move south, hitting all the military bases along the way. Eventually, I'll come into electro and meet my maker. foxdie_01 121 Posted August 7, 2014 Head inland towards NWAF. Stop at the second village away from the coast I arrive at. Feed and water myself. Search decent loot buildings. Continue towards NWAF stopping at each and every village on the way. By the time i've arrived at NWAF im armed, and suitably provisioned for a gun fight. Search NWAF for highend loot, make way down towards Balota, stopping at Vybor mil base, green mountain, Zeno, and finally balota. If i've survived all that i make my way back to the NE, either directly, or via the coast, engaging targets of opportunity or dying while trying where the process rinses and repeats. Or I head to Berezino, find the first couple of corpses to get myself 100% kitted and hope i make it out alive. Or I just head to NE, loot the buildings until im equiped with Mosin LRS and Comp and a handful of rounds and just snipe the shit out of everything and everyone. slippery gypsy 107 Posted August 7, 2014 If it wasn't illegal for Battleye to monitor other activity on your computer, I don't think I'd be the only person lobbying to get TS detection a banning offense. While I concede your point that it is not a rule not to use third party applications to circumvent an issue at the very core of the post-apocalypse survival experience, it is still unfair. In Jenga, there's no rule that you can't have a model tower for experimentation, but it's sure as hell not in the spirit of the game. TS, Skype, Steam chat, Mumble, Oogle, Omega, et al ruin the experience for legitimate players. I don't understand how you can, in good conscious, play this game while using them.one day if you make a friend you will understand how much better T/S + overwolf makes group play and according to you theory is having a A4 printout of the map from mod days with shit written all over it and cup stains still cheating ?
ChainReactor 922 Posted August 7, 2014 (edited) Real players play hardcore. The only cheat vision I have to deal with is ESP hackers. 3PP is the first thing I disable when playing OFP, A2, or A3. I'm not trying to be an elitist, this just illustrates my hatred for most DayZ players You don't intend to, but you do sound like an elitist by trying to define what "real players" are in a sandbox game. I mean, seriously, it's totally up to you how you wanna have this game to be played. Just stick on HC servers. But telling other people that they are doing it "wrong" because they do it in a way you don't prefer is rather dumb. Also, the 3rd person camera is a simple game mechanic. It's open to everyone. I can look around the corner while being covered, and so can you. If you don't like it -> HC, but i guess you figured this out by youself. But seriously, cheat vision? You use the term cheating in kind of a wasteful manner here on the forums. Its like you define everything not to your liking as cheating ( TS, 3PP, Online Map etc ) wether or not its open to anyone and doesnt alter the games mechanics. In fact, I prefer the difficulty associated with the potential for other players to overhear our communications if we aren't careful. It's realistic, it's fun, and it's how the game is supposed to be played.

And yes, I do enjoy my elitist gameplay, and I am more than comfortable in the saddle of Noncheating.

runicranger 0 Posted November 1, 2014 (edited) I know I'm late coming, but two things Applejaxc; 1, here's the definition of cheating - "to act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, especially in a game or examination." As far as I know, no one's lying about using external maps, and because the maps are available to all freely, it's not unfair. 2, I think you're acting like a dick for the sake of acting like a dick, and it's not cool. To the rest of you, have a nice day, and sorry for going off the topic. :) Edited November 1, 2014 by RunicRanger
