zyryx 14 Posted July 29, 2014 Is there a way to prevent or lessen the likelihood that items will disappear from inventory? I was exploring the ability to cook meat yesterday, but my inventory was full. So some items I had to hold in hands. But I had to set my ammo box down to create a fire kit. Put the ammo box back in inventory, cooked the steaks, went along my merry way. But after a server reset I noticed the ammo box (and almost all my ammo) was gone. So is the moral of the story never set anything down you aren't willing to lose, or is it totally random?
LeeVanSpliff 156 Posted July 29, 2014 What happened was probably that the server reset without you getting to log out. Then it won't have given the latest info to the database that has information about your inventory. When you log back into another server (or the same server for that matter), the database will take the newest info it has - in this case, the info might have been stored while the ammo box was on the ground. Anyway, that's a possible explanation - and one of the few ways I seem to lose items myself.
bishopomega 30 Posted July 29, 2014 On 3 occasions, ive lost gear in my backpack. 2x binoculars, 1x MP5. None of which I had ever had in my hands or set down anywhere near a restart. I did log a bug report. Other situations come if you set something down near a tree. The other big issue for me is the auto reload when trying to open a door while holding a weapon. On several occasions ive lost my drum mags because i dont have 4 spaces in my inventory and when the action forces a reload, it auto drops to ground. When this happens, its no where around me. I can never find them once they drop like that. a weapon should only ask for reloading when its empty, not each time you try to do something like open a door or drink water.
zyryx 14 Posted July 29, 2014 Is there any way to see how soon a server reset is coming? I was near a tree that I had just chopped down for the fire...

Oh yeah I can see how that can be a problem. I prefer the SKS and the Magnum, and if I do have a clip/speedloader for those I have them in my inventory, so worst case I lose some rounds. I think people use the whole f-key differently. Friends of mine have the problem, but in the last 50 hours I've played (took a longer break, that's how I know) I only did it once. What I do is press F, and if the door remains closed I start scrolling the mouse wheel - it appears to only happen when I hit F twice in a row. Won't really solve the problem but might alleviate it a bit.

Now its become an awkward thing that results in death sometimes.
