Censored 1 Posted July 26, 2014 Ok so i exit dayz and restarted it today to play again (for some reason it seems to crash when i try to join a new server having already previously been playing on one) and when it loads it looks totally different, like the aspect has changed, my playername has reverted back to "user" and all the settings are wrong.not only that but it also asked me to re-agree to the terms for battleeyMy dayz had been open for hours since last night, and when i quit playing last night i was in a safe area of novo on a low populated server with my friends so no way i died post-logout. when i log in today however, on the same server (one i play on regularly) i was a fresh spawn ?? im playing hardcore hive and on stable branch and ive had issues before where ive logged onto a server that has bad connections to the hive and couldnt load my character, but logging on to another normal server it reverts back to normal....not this time, and no server error messages to suggest that there was hive connection troubles and now i am scared to play regular incase it kills my character there as well anyone know whats going on ? why my dayz decided to reset itself and why my character is now a bambi ? emigrates 261 Posted July 26, 2014 There's a well known bug at the moment for when you experience a crash. It can sometimes crash your system and reset all your configurations to default. To get this back the way you want it can oft be difficult and time consuming. In regards to resetting your character of the Hardcore server, this isn't something I've experienced and most likely due to you being killed by a Zombie or a player. If you need help resetting your graphic settings correctly, including the resolution there are many threads setup for this, or you could just ask. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Censored 1 Posted July 26, 2014 Hey well ive set the settings back up how they were previously, but obviously that doesnt help me get my character back kind of annoying since i had in my eyes what i considered the perfect loot for me (its easier to take it from dead bandits than looking for loot all day) no way i was killed by a zombie and no way by another player, there was noone near me at all Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
emigrates 261 Posted July 26, 2014 Unfortunately that's the nature of the game, it doesn't take long to gear up and losing gear is just a factor. It's impossible to say if it was a zombie or another player, I've logged onto servers with 1 other person playing on it before and logged into the exact same position and been shot before I could even react. When you log out you have a 30 second timer in which your body remains in place, people can still see and kill you for that 30 seconds to prevent combat logging and server hopping. Bearing in mind, it doesn't take a lot for someone to hide in a tree opposite you or a field or a building and take a 600m shot the moment you log out.
