Ambient Sounds - question

Recommended Posts

Does anything trigger the random sounds in the game?

IE, if a player is near me in the forest, does the branch crunch sound go off?

If a player is near me in a town, does the gate opening sound go off?

Just a few things ive wondered, and I've always been more cautious and scan the area more when I hear the noises.

I've noticed me sprinting through a forest has caused birds to flutter away above me, while if I was crouched I never noticed it, so I'm assuming some things do get triggered.

Anyone know?

Nope: The fence hitting sounds and branch breaking are currently not tied to any triggers. I wish.

Climbing ladders, footsteps and belly-ground rubbing noises are your only audible queues at this point.

Yeah, I always get very, very cautious when birds fly away. Makes me very paranoid that there may or may not be a shooter in the tree-line.

Damn, was wishing they actually meant something. Oh well, it will ease the tension more now knowing that I'm not actually about to die when sounds go off.

Thanks!

They're entirely random, I'm afraid. I found out when I kept hearing the 'chain link fence' sound in the middle of the forest :).

I really, really wish the doors and gates would make a sound when you close and open them, though. Since zombies walk and see straight through doors, and you can't hear another player opening them behind you, they're entirely meaningless now.
