What are clans and how do you manage/make them?

Recommended Posts

'Clans' are a globally used term on online gaming, usually consisting of real life friends, internet friends from a previous game, or an entire online community.

To make them, well, you just find some people you enjoy playing with and change your IGN (in game names) to have that 'title'. (Edit your player profile in ARMA 2 to do this) Note : Changing your names isn't required, but a lot of clans like to do it so people can identify them.

As far as managing them goes, most games have a built in 'clan' 'faction' or 'guild' system, however, this is DayZ, and we don't have that. So most just use skype, teamspeak etc, and some even have their own website to help organize and manage them.

Hope this helped in some way.

Rocket has stated that he is planning on including support for groups, he feels it is an important part of the game.

Maybe a custom skin, maybe a tag floating above their head. Nobody knows (not even Rocket) yet.

So far, rocket has mentioned using armbands as some kind of a faction indicator. He did not elaborate on that so it's anybodys guess what he has in mind.

im hoping he'll include different symbols, colors, positions on the arm, thickness of armband, etc.

or else there's going to still be some insane confusion between groups

Well I would not expect a huge amount of variables, at least not initially. Coding a "fully featured" armband creator from scratch would be quite a job, and they definitely have their hands full at the moment. I imagine he would cobble something simple together for testing the viability of the idea, and then if it is liked, more work / recoding can happen down the road.
