The one I got was right from the front page of this website. If it's the server hosting the app doing the redirecting then someone should be looking into that and providing a safer link.

Sounds like you got into a bad link somewhere. Got to watch those free filehosts damn close, they will certainly screw you if you don't watch it.

Does Worrom's updater still work well? Probably won't do beta patches though.

Yeah I use Worrom's, you have to install the beta yourself but it still updates DayZ just fine, and the newest version is made to work with beta.

I can assure you six is not malware, I don't use it anymore, but it has nothing to do with malware, I just prefer manual methods.

I just removed SixUpdater. I downloaded it from the DayZ homepage, which brought me to the official SixUpdater website. I installed it, and only SixUpdater was installed, no malware.

Maybe you guys, who have the malware problem, are infected by a virus?

i killed the installer before it finished because I saw that installed babylon and then some full disk checker shit that poped up and said my disk was too slow and that i needed to buy the software to speed it up.

Luckily it all uninstalls w/out problems, but if you google said apps you'll see not everyone has had the same luck i had with just uninstalling.

also typically most software just installs with "typical installation" lol.. in this case it installs everything and does not give you an option to not install it..

Zip the installer file - upload it somewhere and share the link. Until now all you've done is claiming that an application contains malware - with no documentation whatsoever.

Where did you download SixUpdater from? Could you give us a link? Because other people cannot reproduce the problem you are having. Right now it looks like your PC might be infected by a virus.

I downloaded and nothing seemed to happen to me. Obviously you clicked the wrong link as did I the first time I tried to download it. The link to download is at the very top, if you scroll down a bit, you'll get to the "Malware" links.

Definitely manual install Day Z. It takes no time at all and there are a dozen guides on how to do it with virtually any configuration: steam, retail, ArmA+Arrowhead, ArmA:CO etc..

It's cause you made the mistake of clicking the wrong link and getting 7-zip instead. It's 7-zip's installer that installed all that other BS.

Could you post the steps on how to get to the 7zip installer? I don't think Sickboy intended for some website to repack his installer and add a bunch of spyware to it. I'm guessing he doesn't know about this.

Yeah I know about the BS banners that say download, enter here, etc.. Yeah using your brain will avoid this 99.9% of the time. I have not had a bad download like this in over 5 years because I usually don't fall for this crap. Nice tips ITT but it all comes down to trusting a webpage or not.

I still got this too, I let my guard down because no way this site would link me to a download I can't trust right? I no longer trust ANY downloads linked by (or on) this site. Don't really care if it was a mistakes or intentional at this point, now that its pointed out it needs to be addressed. Making dayz and this site look very bad.

I had no problems with SixUpdater, but as others have said, I prefer the manual installation, so I haven't used SixUpdater for a while.
