Version compatable with ArmA II Free?

Recommended Posts

Possibly make a version that only uses ArmA II /ArmA II Free? (No OA)

I really can't justify shelling out $20-$60 for a game that I only wanna play a mod on. That in truth looks fun, but I have no idea if I'll like.

PS: Don't say just use the OA demo as the launcher itself won't find it sadly.

ArmA 2 Free has no mod support, and it doesn't get beta patches. DayZ is dependent on several features of OA, such as backpacks. Combined Operations is $30 on Steam, and the game itself, plus DayZ, plus other mods, more than justifies the price.

Didn't realize that free had its own limitations enforced. Darn so it will have to be a blind buy if I want to try out Dayz then dangit.

Hey, it's worth it. I bought it thinking okay cool a mod looks awsome probly last me a week. On steam i have 149 hours played and about 140 are Dayz.

You will get your moneys worth.

The editor alone is worth the price. Not to mention all the other mods, and DLC, and now with DayZ you can't go wrong. If money is the issue then it's priority setting time.

Only thing is, if you are use to playing the CoD style games there is a learning curve with the player movement that has turned all but one of my ex BF2 clan members away. It can be frustrating trying to do things that were so simple with other types of games. example: That building placement put the front step to the door just too high to clear on a normal stance, so you have to use hurdle to enter, and then it may take you several attempts to enter a building that should be simple to enter. Other games you would just use jump. Or you are running for your life, and get hung up on a curb that is short enough you should be able to step right over, but high enough to stop your progress long enough to be eaten by zeds. Or you're running for the ladder, but can't get the selection to climb it to come up, plus you have to wait for the animation to finish before you can climb. Other games you would only need to approach the ladder, jump and start climbing. Somethings you will just have to get use to until the mod becomes a stand alone game. The good news is all players have to deal with the same issues, and they are not that hard to work around. Except for that one building I can't seem to enter because the step is too high. I know there's some good loot in there too.:)
