barnabus 1708 Posted July 6, 2014 (edited) Before you enter a danger area dump your gear in an easily remembered spot and only take with you what you need to have. This is especially effective just after a server reset. This way if you get schwacked while in the danger area there is a good chance you can make your way back to it and it will still be there if you were not under survaillence before hand. I have saved rucksacks full of ammo boxes, first aid kits, and other handy stuff along with a mosin and a pistol. I tend to grab a ruck in the danger area to fill up. hombrecz 832 Posted July 6, 2014 Oh you weasel! Hm once they make backpack persistent I can imagine this to be used tons more.Btw I wonder, how many backpack could each player stash. I hope they will balance it somehow.
barnabus 1708 Posted July 6, 2014 (edited) Just not willing to be ands sick of being robbed by back shooters in a danger area. I heard once of a fella that was killed for what turned out to be a ruck full of hats once down in Elektro. Hillarious if you ask me. I did get killed doing something like that at the NWAF, all I had was a protective case, a few rounds of ammo for a CR75 and an SKS and some rags in the ruck. For some stupid reason, beyond my comprehension, I kept my can opener with me too. Not sure why I did that. Repawned down in Berezino, ran my ass all the way back with a few stops enroute. When I got back I recovered everything else, incluing my Mosin with LRS. Even snuck up to the airfield and grabbed an extra ammo can. While I in the hangers I heard a fire fight break out at the Fire Station. I bailed back to my hide site as the firefight continued in the distance and logged out to go to bed. After a few hours of rack time woke up and logged back in to early evening, had the place pretty much to myself. I love this freaking game... Mystic Bagel 128 Posted July 6, 2014 IMO...once they make storage persistent, this game is pretty much dead, unless they tread carefully. I would like to see storage containers with ID marks, only player who initialises it can use it. If they die, the containers, or at LEAST contents, disappear too. This would make grouping up with other players FAR more valuable because it's unlikely the group all dies at the same time, meaning you would have some access to supplies upon death, but you wouldn't have the ability to have supply caches scattered throughout the map and kit yourself out.Hey...CoD awaits, killah
rybec 339 Posted July 7, 2014 I would like to see storage containers with ID marks, only player who initialises it can use it.Honestly, I think that is a terrible idea. It was great in the mod to be walking through the woods and stumble upon a tent that had a lot of nice stuff stored in it. This made you look for places someone would not look in or walk near to place a tent.I actually had something unique happen when playing the mod where I 'traded' with someone using their tent without ever knowing who they were. When I took something, I left something else in the tent. I'd come back the next day or so and my stuff would be gone with something else left in there. This went on for maybe two weeks? Was pretty neat.
Ramblin Hans 118 Posted July 8, 2014 While that is an option, it is pretty risky. I'd guess that I would lose more stuff this way...the amount of times I die vs. the number of times a server resets "randomly" (read: admin was shot, or admin's clan is looting the airfield) seems out of proportion to take this gamble. This is why I pretty much only play on the official experimental servers. Besides, I'd rather risk losing it completely than having some shithead ruin it all in a firefight that I might survive while he does not. When I do play on my server I have stopped doing random resets, even if I get killed.
Dawgstyl 51 Posted July 9, 2014 I do this as well, leave 90% of my stuff behind and circle back to it..

I kind of did this, dumped my mosin with a truck load of ammo, ended up coming back like 15-20 min later and killing like 3 bandits! (A good catch to me)
Lithium1056 45 Posted July 10, 2014 So side question (unless a reset occurs) if I place an item on the ground it stays there until picked up or reset? I know there is (supposedly) a 10min limit on your corpse but I guess I assumed dropped items work the same way
MIKEMONSTER 5 Posted July 10, 2014 I think they should allow you to place backpacks around the map, but they should be stuck in that server. It should be like normal loot (as in that anyone can take it), but it should not reset when the server restarts, but when you (the placer) die. Also what you have in your backpack should decrease the ammount of loot that spawns in the world (otherwise you would be able to hoard a never ending supply of weapons). Maybe one day, instead of servers restarting multiple times each day they will only restart every few months and force the players to hunt, fish, farm, build and craft. MIKEMONSTER 5 Posted July 10, 2014 When I say backpacks i mean anything that you dropped. The weather should be able to damage the stuff over time though.

Even stopped to eat and check a few police stations along the way. Everything was there when I got back.
