Survival enhancements.

Recommended Posts

I was recently watching some YouTube on my phone and came across this guy who was demonstrating some cool easy DIY survival techniques and many things and some that he had shown caught my eye and I thought that they would be a great enhancement to this game.

That being said, some of the techniques shown were the following:

-using a normal 9V battery, cotton balls, and steel wool to make a fire; simply place the cotton balls on an area of the wool and touch the charged end of the battery onto the steel to create some sparks and therefore leading to a small fire that could be used to light a larger one or as a torch, etc.

-using a bottle, skewers, un-inflated ballon, and tape to make a simple DIY "crossbow"; cut the top nozzle of the bottle off and wrap the ballon opening around the nozzle. Tape the nozzle for more support if neccesary. Load a skewer into the balloon with the point facing a target and pull back the loaded ballon as far as desired. Aim at target and let it fly! (Can pierce an empty tin sprite can)

-use an aluminum gum wrapper, AA battery, scissors or a sharp knife, and a glove to create a flame to easier light things aflame; unwrap the gum and fold the wrapper in half. Cut a part off where the fold is, but not all! Wearing the glove, place both ends of the cut wrapper on each pole of the battery and the middle will catch on fire because of extensive heat!

There were many more and the link to the video is here:

I Definiteley recommend some of this stuff too be added once the engine is switched and the core game is optimized!

-Edit-

Sorry about the long post!

DIY projects are simply too complex for DayZ. It'd need an engine more powerful and the Matrix to be able to create something like this. But, simplistic DIY creations like a bat and nails seem fine.

I just can't imagine how DayZ would be able to incorporate multi-step crafting mechanisms. It would be awesome, but I don't think it would be possible.

The multi-step crafting would be the smalles problem you could encounter. The improvised backpack is also somewhat a multi-crafting item.. dont see any problems there..?
