Hunting Deer - mornings or afternoons?

Hey all :-)

 

So, in theory, Deer for example should be coming out to graze either early in the morning or in the late afternoon, twilight in real life, correct? I was wondering if the same would go for in-game deer.

I do not know about boars or rabbits, but what is your experience so far?

 

Any certain time / place better for hunting game than others?

 

Do they come out only in open fields? In the woods? Near a bigger or smaller town?

 

So far I have gotten a boar and a deer and it's hilarious with an axe!

 

P.S.: Keep inventory / vicinty open wehn cooking the meat, as soon as it turns brown, drag it off the fire into vicinity - I have not burnt a single steak that way :-) Also, keep your pieces apart (about 30-60 seconds) before you put the next piece into the fire, that way you don't have to watch too many pieces at once.  Just in case someone is trying to make it work for them.

 

So, what is your opinion about hunting at a certain time / place? Is it close to RL?

i've noticed more deer around the afternoon midday times.

I spent all day in the Western void areas today.  From the pastures west of Green Mountain to the edge of the debug zone and north to the (now disappeared)town west of NWAF Mountain. From AM to Dusk.  No animals what so ever.  Did find 2 unlooted heli-crashes though!  Both had m4a1's. Too bad I don't carry a long gun!

You guys know that zombies are hunting animals right?

 

If you are unlucky you can find all animals killed by zombies in 5km around towns.

 

Then only place where you find a animal is far North where is no towns with zombies.

the western fields of lopatino my friend has good hunting grounds ...boar ,deer and a creek

The southern slopes of Devils Castle down to as far as Altar are full of deer, boar & herds of cows - seen as many as four together in a field.

So if you are in a field and there's no game, is it worth hanging out waiting for some? Do you just stumble across them by accident? Are you running a few miles to find some?

Oh, and are they random spawns scattered all over or are they mostly in the same place?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm just really interested in how others get their game for dinner :-)

I usually just run into them, i've never waited to see if they turn up. I always enjoyed hunting rabbits with mah trusty SVD in the mod, don't see any bunnies at all though since the last patch in standalone

I've just discover that I can run as fast if not faster then the deer. Killing them with my bare fists like a real man.

Bunny rabbits were very buggy (often stuck when running) and got removed for now. They will be replaced with "new" bunnyrabbits in future,

Don't kill the bunnies! Bunnies eyes are in a way where they can see behind them (or at least so they say). Don't mess with ma Bunnies!

I just killed my first chicken, also with my axe/ It's just total fun to run after them like an idiot and hack away, swinging freely at the poor animal ^^ I encountered the chicken while chasing a buck up in Msta. Pretty cool place :-)

It's the first time I saw one too. I decided that a chicky would probably be easier to kill than a deer, which was somewhat true, and it gave me 2x chicken breast (68% and 51% or something like that and of course no pelt or anything). I want eggs now, preferably unfertilized and scrambled :-)
