Functional clothing

So ever since the down jacket was introduced it has always been bothering me how it has no real purpose in the game except having to wear it because it was the first thing you found or for some strange fashion reasons. Imo it should be a type of a vest - you put it over your clothing as any normal person would do instead wearing it with a t-shirt. Also If ever weather becomes a danger it should have some anti weather properties - keep you warm and dry to some extent. And let you wear a chest holster under(and hide that holster) as its pretty nerfed space wise compared to vests anyways.

 

Another thing that Id like to see are rain ponchos that you can wear over all your clothing including a vest but they dont have any slots. Only used as camouflage, to keep you dry and to provide some warmth, as well as hiding your gear(backpack if its not one of the huge ones and weapons).

 

Clothing with deployable hoods both for rain protection and warmth as well as cool factor(a hoodie + a gas mask would be pretty neat imo) And yes I know that has been suggested a million times already :)

 

Gas masks and respirators that have an actual function except fashion(would need some environmental hazards or maybe gas grenades)

 

Another much wanted addition from the community - ballistic masks.

 

Shoes that actually have an effect over your footstep sounds - wearing heavy boots should be much nosier than wearing sneakers or going barefoot but protect you more from the elements or damage to your legs from prolonged walking.

 

Maybe knee and elbow protectors that would allow you to go faster when prone.

 

Sun glasses that actually work(yeah thats been promised to happen but when? Sun too op :D)

 

Ghillie suits that work like the poncho except no weather protection.

 

Camel packs(again much suggested around the forums)

 

Extreme sports armor - good protection against melee and zombies.

 

Vests that allow you to attach a flashlight to them - keep your hands and head free for other things.

 

Ammo pouches that go on your hips that would allow you fast reloads(even on magazineless weapons like the mosin or double barrel shotgun)

 

Would really love to see more functional clothing like this. Anything else im missing? Would love to hear other ideas without having to comb through the forums.

I think things like this will come 

(At least a use for raincoats, bubble-goose-jackets, ponchos,etc. to protect you from rain&cold weather. Also gas-masks being useful for gas-grenades or toxic areas)

 

 

However, shoes would be a bit too over-the-top (4 me personally. Because I like to wear white leather-shoes in the apocalypse (stay classy'n shit) )

 

 

I'm not sure about ballistic masks.

Yeah, they look cool and intimidating and what now.

But when a bullet hits you in the face, it may not penetrate your skull, but you will still get hit veery hard in the face and go unconscious + break your nose or jaw (I know, too much realism can destroy the fun in a game)

Yeah, they look cool and intimidating and what now.

But when a bullet hits you in the face, it may not penetrate your skull, but you will still get hit veery hard in the face and go unconscious + break your nose or jaw

 

Them shoes would be enough to scare off any would be bandit even without a gun :D

 

Also it would be more than enough for me to have really quiet footsteps when barefoot but not be able to go like that for a long time because your feet would get fucked up. And I would really like to have some reason when choosing shoes except looks. Might be something else but Id love shoes and other clothing as well to have to qualities to them.

 

And you said it yourself for ballistic masks - youll be pretty fucked up but not dead, more than enough of a reason to have them.
