I can't seem to open them and I think I found dozens...

Are they still openable after the recent patches?

the loot is normally just all around the ground not sure if I've just been too late and been looted before but I've seen like 10 of them and i have found stuff like fn fal's, bispins, a saw, and my current weapon a mk 40 mod0 :D just look next to the Gatling guns on both sides and both side of the tail. and yes all those guns did have ammo on the floor next to them so i don't think the crashed heli's were looted before me.

loot is on the floor around them, and there is sometimes a weapon directlly underneath the chopper, you can check by crawling under the tail in 3rd person and looking towards the nose, if there is something there you have to get as close to the doors as possible and look right inside while crouched and keep changing your position, can take a minute but you will get the pickup option eventually.

Yes I know that, but I've seen some players actually opening the chopper itself like it's a vehicle or something, and that's where the gold is at.... is it openable or not?

There was some talk a while back about getting in the gunners seat and pressing something which was all bollocks, but it was at the time when loot wasn't spawning at all at choppers so people just trollin i guess

NO.

You cannot open the chopper.

It has loot laying around it, though - Or rather, under it!

Just go prone next to it and scan the underside with the mouse wheel menu! ;)

they usually spawn in specific areas that might be randomized through servers. Usually NW area though sometimes down south abour a kilo from coast (rare) and often near berizino. THe best way is hunt is to log on around NW airfield, Dachina, or Stary. and do a 2km sweep around each of these places. Mark every helo spot you got. I am to the point, I rarely find a helo not on one of my marked spots.

Helo hunting is actually easier and safer IMO and provides btter gear than Stary or NW or any other mil spawn.

And dont forget sometimes loot is bugged and its in the ground,so you cant see it.

So if there is no loot try to search with the crosshair on the ground if you find something.

Had this last time yesterday,a friend didnt see any loot there but i could clearly see and FN FAL,FN FAL nightvision,M249 and a Bizon.
