Scrap metal, various uses

So fishing hooks are damn hard to find, it's easier just to look for cans of food than hunt really.

 

How about adding scrap metal to the game, being a relatively rare godly item, that with a hammer or maybe some machinery in factories you can fashion in to a makeshift fishing hook?

 

Maybe it could be half as durable or even less than that for balance.

 

 

It could also be used to make some kind of shiv for gutting animals that breaks real quick since knives, especially combat knives aren't all that common which is odd to begin with.

 

As well as uses for base building I would imagine.

 

 

Not sure what else but you get the idea.

That or make fishing hooks etc common and cans of food not so hunting and fishing is actually viable.
