Ideas and the ARMA Engine (Lets be real here) (ENGINE CAPABILITIES)

Recommended Posts

While i see some very good ideas on this forum, i see many ideas that although sound good, are just really almost if not impossible to have in arma. Like melee, shops, anything of that sort of nature.

I assume this is due to a lot of new players that bought ARMA 2 for Day Z.

I say, Learn what the ARMA engine is capable of, because if we get people that atleast know what IS possible and what ISN'T POSSIBLE then we should start seeing less threads about the unlikely/impossible, and more suggestions that are possible and good for the development and future of day Z.

Thanks for reading.

Shops aren't impossible in Arma II; it's not a limitation of the engine to have scripted NPCs and the ability to have a fake currency. The RPG-servers have banks, currency, etc :L

It's really difficult to say what the engine is limited to.

Melee might be possible. I remember in RPG servers that people can knock others out with a scripted melee attack (Hitting the person with the weapon) and I believe the SLX mod has a bayonet?

Problem is that, the animation system... You'd be a sitting duck while doing the melee animation.

Zombies teleporting into buildings is 'a part of the engine' because if an actor fails to get to its indoor 'waypoint' time after time, the engine will essentially teleport it in there.
