Backpack

Recommended Posts

I know people have suggested this before, but I bought a new "hiking" backpack (I know it's a large rucksack from the U.S. Army, but I will be using it for hiking) from a storage container that someone bought in an auction. I felt this is the best bridge between the Hunting and Mountain backpack in the game.

Back(has a plastic vertebrae for weight support):

Size comparison (shoes are 10.5 US size):

I feel this would give players the ability to look over their shoulder without having the backpack block their view, but still maintain 35 and maybe even 40 slots. I would make this VERY rare; players should feel accomplished when they find this.

Well there is the huntig backpack, which does exactly what you describe.

About the slots:

I'd rather have a trade-off with the types of backpacks (less slots for less visibility and more vision) than a rare-supreme backpack which is the best in any cases. With a trade-off you have to make choices which influence your playing style, which makes the game more interesting (this also applies for other items). If you have one "this-is-the-best" item for every type of item, the advanced players soon will only run arround with those items, making every advanced player the same. If there is no "best" item for each type, players will start putting their equippment together individually and equippment style is going to vary, depending on the playing style.

Another point is,if you reached the point where you've fount the "best" item of a type, the excitement of finding items of that type is gone, for instance I had the hiking backpack (35 slots) and started trading it for the hunting backpack (30 slots), because it was less visible. As soon as I had the sawed off, which takes a lot of space in the backpack, I switched back to the hiking backpack because I needed additional space, but later in the game I kept finding ammo and storage boxes which made me switch back to the smaller hunting backpack again.

It's hard for me to explain my point scince I'm not a native speaker, but I hope you get my idea.

If you go back and read, I said it combines the hunting backpack (for visibility and camo) and the mountain backpack (for storage space).

Yeah, that's why I tried to explain my point, with rather having a trade off than an item which is clearly the best. Right now you can see that players who played a lot have either the hiking or the hunting backpack, depending on their playing style.
