"You Cannot Play This Mission. It Is..."

Recommended Posts

I always get this error message when attempting to join a DayZ server.

It mentions Chernanus, DayZ equipment, DayZ weapons, and some other DayZ things.

Sorry if this is a repost, I couldn't find another thread on it. Thanks.

I'm running Arma 2+OA+BAF+PMC all updated to the latest version.

I think I tried that. I'm using steam so it looks like...

steamapps>common>arma 2 operation arrowhead>@dayz>AddOns>unzipped mod files

The launch settings I'm using are -mod=@dayz -nosplash

My brain just turned on and I realized it can't access my mod files. I'm an idiot, but how do I fix it? Obviously I fucked up.

remove the -mod=@dayz part, launch it directly from steam using the play arma2 operation arrowhead option, then make sure these and only these mods are checked if you have them (or their corresponding lite versions if you don't have full combined arms): Arma 2, arma 2: operation arrowhead Arma 2: private military company, arma 2: british armed forces, and @dayz.

Then restart the game. You should have all of these mods loaded through this method. After that, assuming you don't have jayarma2lib's directsound.dll installed, you should be able to connect.

This is of course assuming that in your root directory is named a folder @dayz, and within that folder is a folder named addons, and within that folder resides only a bunch of .pbo and .bisign files, all extracted from the full array of dayz compressed files. No subfolders within the addons folder, just pbo and bisign files.

Before I try that, am I supposed to unzip all the mod files? This is what it currently looks like...

Yeah. Arma 2 isn't designed to read rar or zip or tar or ace or 7z or.. well you get the idea. Extract those directly to that folder, they should end up in that folder, and not in subfolders.

Also we're up to 1.4.11 for the code download. You might want to update that too.

Just when you do manage to join a server, make sure not to die before the next update or you might not be able to reconnect.

You technically only need operation arrowhead to play dayz. Steam Operation arrowhead comes with the lite versions of PMC and british addons, and you can download the free version of arma 2, then use -mod switches. I believe it'd be -mod="[pathtoarma2free];ca;@dayz"

Downside is that textures will look like pea soup and the models will be low poly. Oh well.

Extracting worked great. But now when i'm in a server and I hit "join", it loads for a bit then sends me back to the server list. Any ideas?

No error messages at all?

Nope. "Receiving data..." loads until it hangs at 80% for about 30-60 secs, then I'm back at the server selection screen.

I've no idea! Can you remove @dayz from your loaded mods and join a normal vanillia oa server?

My steam launch options are: -nointro -nosplash -nopause

The only extensions/mods I've loaded ingame are the ones I've listed above.

Shows the four arma logos on the bottom left and @dayz in the upper right on the menu screen.

These let me join a server, and if they don't let you join a server and you have the full combined ops or combined ops lite, then I dunno!

if you're getting that message then you are either launching it wrong or its the files. Probably your launch though. follow the wiki to find the solution.

http://dayzwiki.com/...to_install_DayZ

just choose the right section for your version of purchase :)

For Ex: sometimes when I update my OA beta patch, I have to re-edit the .cmd file that is used to launch the game to include the dayz flag (see steam beta patch instructions on the wiki to reference what I'm talking about) or I get the deleted stuff message.

Holy crap on a cracker! this thread is old!! LOL
