DayZ: Quarantine, an rMod and Epoch based semi-story following server.

Recommended Posts

A terrible virus has struck the Chernarussian region. Humans, with symptoms ranging from extreme aggression, to sporadic movements, and most importantly, a taste for other, non-infected humans; suddenly shows up in the area.

In a move to protect its own assets, the Chernarussian Defense force teams up with the Russian Army, and Chernarus is quarantined, by the people who once claimed to protect it.

This leaves you. A lone survivor lost in a fight you cannot hope to win. Will you stand your ground, and fight back against the invading Russian forces, and even your own government that seems to have turned on you? Or will you take this moment of anarchy to do as you please, stockpiling supplies for the unknown future? That is for you to decide. Just remember, watch your back, as sometimes not even your fellow survivors can be trusted.

This is DayZ: Quarantine in a nutshell. (If you just want a list of features, scroll to the bottom, everything else is a sales talk anyway)

Based off of an old series of servers, going by the name of Anyone in Cherno? And Chernarus Divided, DayZ: Quarantine is the unofficial successor to both of these servers. These servers operated with a basic premise, provide the normal, stock DayZ Experience, but add in one major twist. AI. The map is custom made in the ARMA 2 editor, with checkpoints, patrols, and other groupings of AI, scattered all across the map. This brings a whole new level of gameplay to DayZ, one that not a lot of servers do properly.

Now a days, tons of servers have "AI" in them. These are, typically, little more than events that take place on a random timer, across the map, and whoever can get to them, kill 12 AI with guns gets all the loot in the area. This isn't Quarantine's take. Quarantine has AI, placed around the map, by hand, that are always there. No optional missions, they ARE there, and they are a force to be reckoned with.

But what's the POINT of all of these AI? Where are the rewards for me? Well, that comes from killing the AI themselves. You have perfect free reign to take the weapons and vehicles of the AI around the map. Wipe out a checkpoint? All those guns are yours. Knock out the crew of a BMP-2? Enjoy it while it lasts.

Quarantine has a new balance of things too. People are rarely aggressive towards each other. Most people will (typically) team up to go after AI, and split the rewards amongst themselves, rather than say... shooting each other to get more gear. Instead, the AI are the main antagonists of the server. Towns with infantry patrolling inside of them, and armored checkpoints outside of them become threats AND places to loot now.

DayZ: Quarantine, basically, offers a new level of DayZ Gameplay. We go from making players the biggest threats, to making AI a comparable threat. That one change alone is enough to shake up the gameplay of the server significantly. All that's missing is you, so why not come give it a try?

And now, the official feature list, if you will:

* DayZ Epoch 1.0.4.2

* rMod 1 or 2, 1 is preferred however.

* 6 hour restarts

* JSRS Support

* No traders. The traders, and their cities, have been completely removed from the map. Yes, I realize this shakes up some of the gameplay of Epoch, making it harder to get certain things, like base building supplies, or plot poles, and it also makes most metals worthless, however this server is supposed to stick to a much more vanilla DayZ Experience. We use Epoch for its other features, not just traders.

* Self Bloodbagging

* R3F Towing, with a custom config.

* AI, of course. A militarily armed AI force, spread across (most of) the map, with more updates coming constantly.

* With AI, comes weapons, and armed vehicles. It is perfectly acceptable to go Hijack a T-72 and use it for your own purposes. However, be warned that for balance and due to the way the AI are plugged into the map, AI vehicles disappear upon server restart, going back to their old positions. All other, normally spawned vehicles, are safe, however.

So what are you waiting for? Come join us, take a look around, and see for yourself. Our IP is 69.39.239.138, with the port of the server being 3408.
