Why do vehicles erupt in balls of flame?

Recommended Posts

This makes no sense to me whatsoever. What's the logic behind vehicle explosions?

cars DO explode, just because you never saw it doesnt say its just a movie myth

gasoline+high speed+sudden stop+electric parts and stuff all over the place = boom

cars often catch fire or burn out after a crash, even if its not as often since the cars get safer, but old russian military cars and a hundred year old russian civillian vehicles... yes, they ought to

I can see what your saying but shouldn't it at least be a low chance? I mean seriously, driving an ATV through the woods at 10k an hour and having it burst into a ball of flame is a bit redonkulous? No?

I can see hits by explosives causing an explosion but otherwise no.

I was t-boned in a 1994 civic not 3 months ago by a large pickup. It hurt like fucking hell and I was definitely "in shock" for a bit but there were no fires.

Anyways, it's not something that is going to ruin the game for me but I really don't think it makes much sense as it is.

Read the part on flaming cars.

well, thats the dayz damage modifications being made, you also break your bone and die horribly for falling a half meter

but i think mainly the exploding of the cars is also there to show "you cant repair this pile of junk anymore"

Cars do not explode after an accident; they do catch fire but even then most often they do not.

Source: Called up my dad and asked he's has been a cop for 30 years and seen a shit tonne of them.

That said; they blow up because it looks awesome in game.

My and my buddy were on a BUS and barely hit one zombie. The bus explodes throwing us out into a field with broken legs, bleeding and shock.

Cars don't explode how they appear to in movies though... Simply shooting a cars gas tank won't make it explode, and it's not the gasoline itself making the explosion it's the engine having sparks fly into the area where the gasoline feeds in, and that flame traveling to the gas tank. Simply shooting a cars gas tank won't do shit to it, nor will hitting a maybe 150 pound zombie.

I don't remember seeing that in the change logs.

I do remember that being normal for ARMA II.

Somethin to do with normally being a armed soldier in a armed vehicle.

Accidents explode. heavy gear breaks legs.

It's more Mil Sim then Real Sim

Cars IRL don't explode like in the game or the hollywood movies. Especially from bullets they dont. Most likely the fuel reservoir will pop [and you need to have a leak or a physical opening] but in no way that you think it will.

Also, I'm guessing in Cherno vehicles use diesel fuel and not benzine fuel, which is even harder to "explode".
