Dayz seems ok but did i install it right?

I am looking through most of the forums, and to be honest, I am unsure as to why DayZ has so many different ways of installing. I am now unsure if my installation is even correct now!! Can anyone help?

I purchased ARMA2 CO through steam and waited ( a day!! ) for it to download and install. I played both Arma2 and OA as an admin just to get the updates etc. I then installed Six Launcher of which I opened and played as an admin. So far so good. I have been playing games ok I guess.

I then downloaded Six updater. After many wtf moments and clicking update buttons, it appears that I have updated other things too but cant be sure what. But I am playing DayZ with no bugs or obvious side effects.

Have I missed anything out here?

Personally: Sixupdater confuses the heck out of me. I find it simpler to do all the file copying and manual folder stuff.
