wtf just happened?

Was at NEAF, and was trying to leave. I was in the second jail when i spawned in. I kept hearing an m4 every few minutes, when i worked up the courage to go i ran out and where the fence is with the trees, i went prone behind the tree to make the appearance that i kept running and they can't spot me. Nothing, all's good. I see a fresh spawn just running around, and I'm not a dick so I wasn't about to shoot him and/or give away my position. I was planning on going to Berezino, so in that direction, i took the trees until an open field. I HATE OPEN FIELDS.

I ran a serpentine maneuver across the field then into heavy pines, where I again went prone to give the illusion i kept running and maybe trick them into running past me so I can kill them.......Here's where shit gets weird.

I hear footsteps, so i prepare for someone to be running past me for the direction i ran. Instead, I see some random dude in mil gear right behind me(I'm proned far into a pine tree), so i quickly spin around and unload a bunch of shots in his direction(hip fire) with my SKS, I think he was shooting at me also, then he runs like around the tree for a second, I pull out my shotgun and begin to lie in wait. I proned around the tree in the direction he ran, and NOTHING. The dude disappeared. I waited there for about 3 more minutes, then did more zigzagging up the hill into some more trees and waited, nothing.

What happened? Was he a hacker who juts couldn't kill me? Did he combat log in an instant?

So...you shot at some dude and missed.  Then you couldn't find him again.  That's what happened.

 

I don't understand how you immediately assume hacker.  I mean the guy could've just run off...

Maybe he just ran away. I've had plenty encounters that left both me and my adversary crippled and apart. I might even say that those are the best clashes there are. It's plausible that he didn't know where you were and shot at wherever he thought the fire was coming from and, smartly, evacuated. I know I'd get the hell out of there if I got ambushed like that. I've gotten greedy before and 90% of the times it leads to your death if you return for their loot.

Seems plausible, he was just looking right at me and I assumed he had to have seen me lol
