better weapon switching

hi guys,

 

everybody knows that you keep running if you switch the weapon in your hands to smth. else.

 

that can either be annoying (if you started changing your weapon, but want to stop now) or used to run uphill ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjbCzDPW4FA )

 

another example:

you started changing your weapon while standing still, and cant do anything until you finished .

 

 

to solve this problem and bug, the item switching should be like the reloading animation:

 

reloading has nothing to do with movement, you can start walking/jogging/running in every direction, or backwards, or sideways after the animation started, or stop while the animation is playing

 

now what i want is to make the weapon-switching animation work the same way.

 

 

tell me what you think and if you like the idea

Weapon switching is only thing that's really annoying even for alpha version of the game. I understand it as bug but it should be priority no.1 because it affects gameplay pretty much all the time.

Agreed, shame they havent still fixed that, and the weapon switching system should be longer imo, but its a subject to change as the game evolves.

I think there should be a couple of ways to switch weapons, for example, if I'm in a firefight, I don't want to calmly put my rifle on my back when I run out of ammo and draw my pistol afterwards... I want to drop my empty weapon and rip that pisol out of the holster.  In a real firefight I can switch weapons in less than a second... no reason the game should be any different.

 

I think the solution would be to give a modifier to a weapon switch - you can hold shift and press a number to instant switch, dropping whatever is in your hands, or you can just press hte number like normal to do a normal switch.  Of course the key would be programmable.
