How to get the players guids or names

Recommended Posts

So, right now we have two players glitching in our server (inside a wall) and i don't know how to get the names to kick them.

There's no way to know who is hacking, glitching, harassing in the server if they don't type or let you check their pulse?

Unfortunately at this point in time there is no way to obtain GUID's or indepth log views so you would need the player name from a complaint or death verification to get the information to kick.

It's pretty difficult to kill a hacker or someone using a wall glitch and they usually use the voice chat instead of typing so we can't kick them...

This way hacks, glitchs and harrasment is permitted as far as they don't reveal their names cause admins have no way to know who they are and they can't kick everybody until they dissapeared.

Am i right?

Its not permitted, but unfortunately as I said prior there is currently not enough tools for admins to identify and maintain proper control.  Down the road I'm sure there will be changes but for this current point in time not so much.

this may be playing the devils advocate, but at this stage of development, glitch abuse is pretty much expected, as the community feedback about such issues leads to them being fixed. if no one had the reason to complain, half of the issues would be unreported, and might persist into the final game.

i am always happy to find a glitcher (or fall myself behind a wall) because i can then take a screenshot and file a report. and every bug report i make makes that warm, fuzzy feeling in my stomach

Then we must reconsider closing the server until the right tools are released cause right now hackers and glitchers are ruining the game and we can't offer a good game experience to our users.

As a suggestion to solve the wall glitchers inside airports the hive can check if someone is detected inside the wall coordinates and wipe the character as punishment.

Also to prevent ghosting it could be helpful disallow players to log off inside buildings.

I'd love the buildinglog-denial. And yes, right now you are powerless as admin. And every hacker knows that. All the "Cheater/glitcher = kick/bann" in the servermessages is so pathetic, everyone knows its a empty threat.

If you find glitcher in your Airfield buildings, i recommend to just leave them alone. Those bastards will be bored. You might also write a message in the global adminchat for everyone to read that there are glitchers there. That way people probably won't bother to mess with them and they'll get bored and leave the glitch or server.

to identify players who use mic chat:

- let your target player(s) speak. chat with him/them. tease them, sing them, whatever.

- open the player menu.

- mute one player on the list (usually the glitchers are on top of the list) when your target player speaks. if you can still hear, unmute the innocent.

- continue till you find the guy(s).

Or... Have your current STEAM account nickname linked to your DayZ nickname AND have popup messages that tell you who were you killed by. As of now, cheaters are having a FIELD DAY in DayZ. This is probably the only way how the community itself can help in this dirty "war".
