Shelter from rain

So, I'm a convert from the Standalone to the mod. Gotta love those Steam sales.

 

Anyway, I've been playing Epoch for just over a week and discovered last night, to my dismay, that the roof of my little forest shack does not keep the rain out. My fire stayed lit for about 20 minutes, then fizzled out and refused to stay lit again. Is there any way to stop the rain, or will I just have to board up an existing barn and live in there if I want to stay dry?

Was the forest shack built by you? or was it part of the map, like a deer stand.
