The game is ArmA 2 CO and the mod is DayZ. If you read up on the subject you will find that ArmA is much more efficient on higher speed processors, rather than more cores, which leads to lower cpu utilization. Also ArmA 2 is a multithread/core application, so it can use more than 1 core at a time.

sorry if I wasn't clear, use this in your mod line. right click on your shortcut and paste this before "-mod=@DayZ"

-cpuCount=4 -exthreads=7

Sorry for taking so long, you will need to either use the beta batch script or use a shortcut to launch the beta and DayZ.

see here:

see here if you get some errors:

Edit: try this first, it's an edited version of the beta start batch script.

Revised, fixed the stupid windowed mode start... http://minus.com/mGelGtFpT/

sorry for taking awhile to respond, i was busy for a few dayZ..... heh... so i tried the steam launch thing, and i now have 40-60fps constantly, an improvement, and theres less lagging but only a few freezes, how do i get the -threading 7 and -cpu 4things on the steam launch?

If you have a slow hdd (5400 rpm) and there are a large amount of textures to load from the game you will have micro-stutters. If you upgrade your hdd to a 7200rpm drive you should get rid of the problem, if you get an SSD you will probably gain some fps (not too much).

The truth is I don't use steam so, I don't know. The people I know that do use steam for CO seem to have a lot of problems launching the beta through it. For simplicitie's sake just create a non-steam shorcut to the .cmd file you downloaded (that is, if all you want is the overlay).
