Fionny 7 Posted May 14, 2012 Would you consider changing the real time day and night schedule? As it stands alot of us working chumps dont get home until 6pm + so technically it would always be night time for us if we play on our own continent servers... as night time is pretty much unplayable for the most part its incredibly annoying. While I like what ye were trying to do with it I think a hour by hour rotation would be better? Especially given you can die of hunger or thirst within a few hours which doesnt fit with the real time schedule.
statistx 5 Posted May 14, 2012 i think it needs to have either different (time system wise) servers or needs to be speed up to another RL time/ingame time ratio. At least as long as there are peaktimes where you have a hard time getting into servers.I wanted to play yesterday for the first time, wasn't possible during the day so i had to try again when it was dark...not a good way of trying out the game for the first time as you can imagine
Fionny 7 Posted May 14, 2012 I hear ya, my buddy and I played on an American Server despite being in Europe so we could have daylight, luckily ping isnt the be all and end all of this.
beeman 1 Posted May 14, 2012 After spending a couple nights playing in the pitch dark, I find that it's more atmospheric. I like it. A lot. However, I don't like being in the situation you're talkin' about, where the only time of day you're able to play turns out to be night time on all the low-ping servers in your region.I believe setting the day/night cycle to a two, four or six hour rotation would be sufficient. When I play ArmA regularly, I usually play with a two hour cycle. That way nights are long for dramatic battles(the lighting in this game is so good T_T ) but not so long as to be painfully annoying.
Fionny 7 Posted May 14, 2012 That would work alright 2 hours night 2 hours day.
Lady Kyrah 1110 Posted May 14, 2012 The way i see it it could be easily fixed with having "staggered" servers.example, two US servers, one is 'real' time, the other one is out of sync with the second one by 3 to 6 hours behind the first. This ensure that there is still some unavoidable night time but it give the option for those coming home late to get some extra light hours.
Fionny 7 Posted May 14, 2012 Could work too I suppose :)
Stubbies 67 Posted May 14, 2012 I do currently like the cycles, but id go for a 6hour day 6 hour night cycle :)
Fionny 7 Posted May 14, 2012 That still would nerf someone who comes home a certain time... who actually has more the 6 hours time to play in a day!
statistx 5 Posted May 14, 2012 if they speed it up 2x AND start the servers out of sync, you would eventually have totally mixed up cycles, which means .) everyone can have .) everything .) anywhereToss in clocks as a starting item and you can easily find out what time the server you login currently runs
Marou_ 1 Posted May 14, 2012 I'd like to see a compressed cycle. Something like 4 hour days. I work all day Monday-Friday, and spending all week playing at night only doesn't sound very appealing, nor does "cheesing" the game by loading into a time offset or European server. The only factor day/night plays in game now is whether or not to play at all. Having it influence in game decisions would be a huge plus. Things like "holing up for the night" would be reasonable in a play session if the night lasted an hour or two. They aren't when it's realtime and I only got 3-4 hours to play.
