Ferreus (DayZ) 0 Posted May 14, 2012 I love the ammount of zombies we have now, but I got 100m traveldistance with 3g17 clips, 9 akm clips and 3 bandages before running out of it all. The game is broken, and here's how to fix it:1. Zombie behaviour30% zombies spawned are hoppers, 10% are runners and the rest just walk towards you. I have always wanted them to increase the ammount of zombies to what we have now, just make them walk instead!Hell, in my opinion, if they implement this they can increase the ammount of zombies even more. What this will lead to: We have all walked around with an abundance of ammo before, I personally did not enjoy how easy this state was to achieve. This way, if you need to go into a town, you need to use alot more ammo, making it far more valuable. Also, if 90% of the zombies are slow, you can, if you need, be less wasteful of it.2. Silent optionsWe have all thought this: GIVE ME A GODAMN MELEE WEAPON ANY FUCKING DAY OVER THIS STUPID AK!We need a hatchets, baseball bats, machetes, hell, give me a godamn pocket knife and i'll gladly toss my makarov aside.Increase the spawnrate/reclaimability of crossbow bolts, make the crossbow deal more damage to zombies. I got lucky once and found bolts in 3 buildings in a row, killed 3 zombies, was unable to reclaim a single bolt and then I was out. What this will lead to: Silent alternatives are so rare and so uneffective as it is now, and with the additional zombies we are stuck with, what are you supposed to do if you're in a middle of a town and a single zombie spots you? Option 1: Shoot it, then fend off 50 more and probably run out of ammo and die. Option 2: Run for your life out of town and kill it and fend off the 30 additional zombies you managed alert doing so and probably run out of ammo and die.Option 3: You're not one of the 99%, you have a silenced mp5 and everyone else hates you. Go away. This way, if a zombie or two notices you, you can take it out without dying. Also, they can make ammo spawn at a lesser rate, making it even more valuable. All in all, as it is now, it is unplayable, I don't think this is what anyone envisioned going into this, neither the devs or the players. With these changes, everyone would enjoy the game alot more.
thecat100 0 Posted May 14, 2012 Yes, please implement melee weapons and these different zombie types. The game is almost unplayable now since in every town you go you have to prone to sneak past those annoying zombies.
Blitzy 12 Posted May 14, 2012 Why should we get to sculpt and choose what haunts us in this post-apocalypse? More specifically, why should a higher-hand be forced to tone down the difficulty because the majority of people are not yet capable of dealing with the situation? I'm not saying it needs to be this hard; I'm saying we shouldn't have the ability to decide what our predators are or how many of them exist.No-one knows what the scenario would be like in a post-apocalypse, but whatever it was, we all know no-one would be around to tailor the threat levels for us. Whatever's out there, we'd be forced to deal with it on our own, with whatever tools and resources we currently had available to us at the time.I vote we go with Rocket, and try to live this thing out. Shit just hit the fan. Shit just got real. Until the authorities can rescue us and control the situation, we'll just have to sit tight and survive - like we always do. Ferreus (DayZ) 0 Posted May 14, 2012 I agree with alot of what you say, Blitzy, but this is the suggestion box and i sincerely think these changes would make the game more enjoyable for the vast majority you speak of, and in the end, is that not what the people making it want? Blitzy 12 Posted May 14, 2012 I agree with alot of what you say' date=' Blitzy, but this is the suggestion box and i sincerely think these changes would make the game more enjoyable for the vast majority you speak of, and in the end, is that not what the people making it want?[/quote']Yeah, I know what you mean. Your suggestions are all valid and reasonable; I'm not really intending to criticise you for planning out how to make the experience more enjoyable for everyone. Sorry if that's how it's coming across. However, it's a little tricky. Rocket has already stated before that DayZ is not to be thought of as a game and it's not supposed to be balanced, fair or 'optimised' for player enjoyment. Instead, he explained that it was best to refer to DayZ as a 'social experiment' where the world was intended to be as brutal, cruel and barbaric as possible - there's no room for rules or regulation here (unless it's the players who create them in the first place). In short, how do we approach DayZ? If it's not supposed to be a game, then we can't exactly attempt to balance it like one. However, why are we then playing this? At the end of the day, aren't we playing DayZ for...fun?That's why I proposed we should just 'roll with it' and see how it pans out first before we try and re-balance things, as Rocket intended. It might not be fun for the first few nights, and we're certainly going to die learning new lessons from our new mistakes and mishaps as the entire playing field has evolved past what we originally understood of this world. Trying to play DayZ as a game will inevitably stress you out (as it did with me). You may get frustrated at the open PK'ing, the power of zombies, the fragility of the survivors, the lack of resources, the respawn areas, the communication glitches, the lack of goals/missions/tasks for us to strive to complete...But if we approach DayZ as Rocket intends (a 'social experiment'), who knows, we might actually have a lot of fun watching how it all unfolds, and studying how humanity tackles this newly evolved, monstrous uprising. I_aint_no_bandit 5 Posted May 14, 2012 This guy has the right idea, the whole reason you want to play more is the difficulty involved, by making things easier and more accessible it dumbs down the game.
FrIEND (DayZ) 9 Posted May 17, 2012 I strongly Believe that People Wouldnt feel it Entertaining or Enjoyable anymore if it got any easier..Z's could run slightly slower than players but thats about it
qbert 4 Posted May 17, 2012 I agree and disagree with some of this. On one hand, I'd like to see some variety in the zombies asides from hoppers, and runners. A walker would be a nice addition only if it doesn't diminish the amount of runners there are. On the otherh and, if you make the zombies easier, and then reduce the amount of ammo you get, essentially what you'd have is the same amount of balance in the game but with less action and less reward.
