darkspecialistE4 4 Posted May 14, 2014 im a few days old and i dont think i have lasted more than a few hours at a time over 5 or 6 characters..but its the small stuff in this game like..feeling good about yourself, finally getting some gear and taking more chances, have to get some food just to die from a leg break after you fell maybe 2 or 3 feet. i won my first one on one duel...some guy came at me fists flying and we went around and around for 5 minutes and i finally knock him down..the next morning die from a fall. also very terrifying playing on servers that have night. it also seems a little cheating to go to a server no one is on scavenge for gear to go to a populated server to just play. i also went into a TS server to listen in last night...people were dying but others would loot the bodies and give their stuff back...is this an option i need to set? if i die and i go back my body can i loot myself? Night servers are a bit creepy especially if you weren't counting on joining a server with night time. The team speak server you joined might have been hosted by the server owner or another group in game but its a good way to meet people and potentially survive in a group. You mentioned people were helping other survivors get their gear back if they died, this is usually groups or friends helping each other out. You will find people who will help but others won't. Dayz is much better if you have someone to show you the ropes or to help getting around or just another friendly voice to keep you from going insane while you running around the map and survive.Anyways sorry for the long winded post, nice to meet you and hope you have safe travels in chernarus. Welcome dude, enjoy. You can loot your own body as long as no one "Hides" it and you get back to it within 10 minutes. The 10 minute timer can be negated if someone stays close to your body. I suggest while you are new that you stay away from the top half of the map especially NEAF and berezino. Head inland straight away and go explore the beautiful surroundings as you get a feel for the game. Once you have become familiar with the mechanics and map you can start to head to the north half but be prepared for death. The most important thing to remember is DON'T GET ATTACHED TO YOUR GEAR..... EVER and second is GET OFF THE COAST IMMEDIATELY, not "Oh I will just check this house then head inland, STRAIGHT AWAY. If you do that your time will be more enjoyable and you will have better success. You will also be better than about 70% of the people that play this game and you won't come to the forums complaining about KoS'ers Lastly, if you can try and play hardcore, don't get into the regular game mode trap and my reasons are as below. - Friendly people (Generally speaking, depends on country you play in)- Other players can't use 3PP to their advantage eg. Locking themselves in atc and knowing when anyone gets close without you knowing about them.- IMO, more intense, realistic, and amplifies the tension and suspense Anyway, GL and enjoy.
