Dayz FPS issue on a Pretty HIGH END machine

Recommended Posts

Ok so firstly the specs.

AMD FX 8320 8 Core Processor

Asus M5A97 R2.0 Motherboard ( Bios is Updated )

CX750M PSU

16 Gigabytes 1600mhz DDR3 Ram

1 TB HDD 7500 RPM Sata

Zotac GTX 760 Video Card

Windows 8.1

Computer has all updates, Video drivers, chipset etc etc.

In dayz on Low Medium High or Very high settings on 1680x1050 Resolution i will only get around 20-30 FPS Sometimes it drops to 15 FPS

GPU Load is running at 40% and using roughly 500mb-1000mb of memory depending on how long i can run the game before i get frustrated with the lag.

I plan on OCing processor and i have a Zotac GTX 760 AMP Edition on the way.

I have done the basic tweaks with setting the 1 and 1 in config. I've adjust each graphical setting available in the options menu to see if there is any improvement or decrease in fps. If anyone can help me out with any tweaks i can do to increase FPS much appreciated.

I have benchmarked the PC on prime95 benchmarked the video card on Furmark benchmarked the memory and Put the GPU through extreme conditions (Mining Crypto Coins) the system is flawless error wise. Processor runs at 4ghz while in game. 1110mhz core on GPU. Non overclocked.

The processor is good, but not high end. I have the same, but only 8 GB RAM and a Radeon HD7770. My computer performs likewise, but more stable in FPS. The graphics are not the problem here. While the game is 32 Bit, all RAM above 4 GB is not accessible. Also the game seems to have problem to utilize multiple cores. Additionally, DX9 is fairly old. Don't expect much for now. I noticed that when other processes utilize the network connection, the FPS sometimes drops. Maybe you should look there.

dayZ is made from the groundworks of arma 2, a game that was already so poorly optimised that 90% of people still can't play it with decent fps even today. if you add to that the fact that dayZ is horribly optimised aswell, you get yourself one big lack of optimisation turd sandwich. hence horrific FPS on pretty much all systems. dark souls 2 on PC has far superior graphics and runs at glorious 60fps even on my relatively mid-specced laptop, and that only came out a couple of weeks ago. it's all about the optimisation man

Ermmmmm... Dark Souls 2 is not a good example of anything dude, it is PS3 port, a highly underdeveloped one, the textures resolution is lame, the enviroment art is terrible, you see blocky geometry everywhere, there are areas with so obvious texture tilling that makes you wonder if they had any kind of art leading in the project and we better don't start talking about its prehistoric shading. In a PC visual context, DS2 is one of the worse examples that could have picked up, technologically speaking, it is lame.

It's also about Dark Souls not having to render 250 km2 at once.

People need to stop comparing the Take on Helicopters engine to one that does nothing similar. There's not many engines out there that can do what DayZ's engine does.

Let me sum this up for ALL of you. The Take on Helicopters engine is a highly modified Arma 2 engine, essentially dubbing it the Arma 2.5 engine. The engine has no support for modern technology as it is a rather dated engine and the modern technology we have now was not available when the engine was coded. Dean plans to add support for Muli-Core (client and server), hyperthreading (most likely server), DX11 (or if a newer version is released), 64-bit, Multi-GPU, etc...

Just give the game some time.

you can't deny that dark souls 2 has FAR superior graphics to arma 2. have you played dark souls 2? your opinion seems very vague and as if you just picked it up online.

why does it need to render 250km at once? what do you gain from that? the most you can see is like 2km away anyway, even if you're in a helicopter. it's a joke of an engine that barely works on anything. my friend has an extremely high end system that can barely run it on low settings. yes, it's in alpha stage. it's been in alpha stage for a long old time, and it will be for a much, much longer time with how slowly things are moving. my FPS in game has not improved at all since launch, if anything it's actually got slightly worse somehow. give it time everyone says. why? after playing it the other day after not playing it for a long time i realised just how abysmal it really is. the zombies are a complete joke and the game barely works at all as a whole. how anyone can have the patience to play it for prolonged periods of time is just beyond me.

Did you not read what I typed? DayZ does not support Multi-Core CPU's, DX11, etc whereas Dark Souls 2 does...  If you don't understand why the game is lacking as of right now, which you don't, then I highly suggest you don't play the game and don't complain about it. Hell, you're complaining about a game that you agreed to buy and play after clicking through several warning messages telling you the game is unfinished and broken.
