ravenouswarrior 11 Posted May 7, 2014 Perhaps adding more improvised equipment to provide more of an immersive experience as a survivor in the Apocalypse would benefit the game? My ideas are:1. Improvised knives made from sticks and some sort of blade, (from a razor or a piece of flint) I realise that melee has not been fully implemented as of yet but hopefully will soon.2. A wider variety of improvised backpacks or pouches to store supplies, these pouches could be across the chest instead of the gun holster.3. Improvised everyday tools to open cans similar to the screwdriver.4. Clothing made from fabrics found as loot such as blankets which could be used as a bandanna. I hope you guys can elaborate on my ideas and add more!
xalienax 621 Posted May 7, 2014 Really like it. So many possibilities to make more primitive weapons and gear; - Improvised Rope/Cord*Could be made from simply twisting live/supple vines or gathered "branches" together- or ripped off of defunct appliances/vehicles in the form of wiring? - Spears of various type*Everything fomr a simple sharpened stick to ones with peices of scrap metal or household knives attached to the end. - Improvised "Blades"*Even the steel food cans can be broken down and a peice of the metal sharpened against the pavement or a rock somewhere to make a blade for an improvise knive, weapon, or hunting implement. - Improvised "cammo"*Sticking or attaching branches from your surrpoindings to your clothes will make you harder to spon in the wilderness but stand out in the city
ravenouswarrior 11 Posted May 7, 2014 I really like the idea of improvised camouflage, that would be great for snipers or on the other hand it would be great to hide from snipers!
xalienax 621 Posted May 7, 2014 Yeah i would like to see more of the stuff in the environment be useful. the stuff considered "garbage loot" too Like the example i gave with the empty cans? i know ive been cut a few times when they dont open properly the lids can end up very sharp (or jagged if using some primitive implement to bust them open) in a true apocalypse i would expect those who can find ways to capitalize on things typically considered junk would have an advantage in surviving long-term. ravenouswarrior 11 Posted May 7, 2014 Perhaps even being able to use all this "Junk Loot" and combine them to set traps for zombies, players or animals. These could vary from Bear Traps and Explosive Devices to a trip chord to make a visual or audio signal to alert a player or zombies in the area.
kingbritain 63 Posted May 7, 2014 I want to see your character use the environment more. Like, a zed tries to attack you, and instead of punching it, you trip it or slam it into a car hood or something. Also, parkour. How about heck yes.

How about heck yes.as cool as that would be, i dont see parkour working with the clunky ARMA engine, let alone the fact that were simulating displaced civillians who will be in various states of fitness. i know if i tred to run up a wall and hang on a ledge id fall flat on my ass IRL. ravenouswarrior 11 Posted May 7, 2014 Yes I think using the environment would improve the game greatly! I just thought of a new way to set "Signal Traps" by breaking a window or a bottle and scattering the glass pieces in a hallway or high traffic point so a player or zombies footsteps are louder and easier to distinguish! ravenouswarrior 11 Posted May 7, 2014 As cool as parkour would be I think that firstly how difficult it will be to implement into the game, and secondly I'm not sure it will suit what DayZ is aiming to become. But it would be very cool to have a zombie survival game with a parkour system!
