Where ever you go a zombie would smell your location , where ever you went the zombie will investigate for about 200m , plant a jerry can and they will lose your location due to the Gasoline.

So everyone would just have a pack of zombies following them wherever they go?

They'd follow your smell until something else catches their attention?
