gwartham 13 Posted May 8, 2014 I honestly don't believe a lot of thought was put into choosing a "sniper" gun for this game, and theres really no problem with that. Unless your a board warrior who keeps screaming the battle cry of "Realistic" in a zombie game. Look, its really simple, they needed to add a sniper rifle to the game, and since this is someplace in russia/former ussr, they chose a mosin. Would you all of felt better if dozens of Remington 700's were laying about?

SmithSights 20 Posted May 8, 2014 Hello, Realism. I prefer realism. This work machine is capable of running MoH Allied Assault. It barely supports Pacific Assault and anything higher won't run. The installers won't install them due to the chipset, so I don't know how they'd act. Pacific Assault is laggy even on good machines, and that's bad for me because I really want to aim down the sights. I stumbled across a mod for MOHAA that let this happen, and I'm pretty satisfied with that. For realism, were I designing the sniper Mosin for this game, I would 1. Make it a PU. I prefer the PE and PEM setups, but the PU is tougher and was just more popular. 2. The zoom would be 3.5x. That's what the original was and honestly, much more isn't good if there's realistic movement of crosshairs and the like. The US Military in WWII issued the M1903a4 sniper's rifle with 2.5x 'scopes. These were actually modifications. The M2903a4 was designed with a Ubertl 8x 'scope that proved too powerful in the relatively up-close use it saw in the Pacific and urban Atlantic theaters. Too much zoom is bad. 3. Accuracy and precision: I'd give it 2 to 3" at 100 yards with that standard surplus that was issued to infantry, and about 1MOA for the 7n1 issued to snipers. Real-life precision for the 91/30 was about 5moa for a general issue rifle, and around 4moa for the sniper version. Most all issued rifles were and are capable of 2.5moa with good ammunition. There's other stuff, likely, but you can't put trigger pulls (for example) into gameplay. I would have the crosshairs move with breathing so that you'd have to trigger the shot at NRP, but they may have thought of that. I'm off to check YouTube vids. Regards, Josh

Regards, Josh The game sadly does not take realism into account at all. The mosin in game appears to be a bubbaed 9130 with a bent bolt. Not a true sniper variant. In game you can easily mount a modern variable scope that closely appears to be a nightforce branded scope you can also somehow attach a modern day atlas bipod to some kind of magically mount in the front. In game the mosin somehow becomes more mechanically accurate when you deploy the bipod and when outfitted with a flash hider. Worst part is the mosin in game is able to hit tiny targets out at 1200m using crappy mil surp ammo. :/ Realism......
