FPS Issues on a decent PC

Recommended Posts

Hey, I just bought Arma 2 yesterday to play DayZ.

Unfortunately, I've been getting some FPS drops in certain areas.

System Specs

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4GHz Quad Core CPU

GPU: XFX Radeon HD 6870

Motherboard: Asus M4A88TD-V

PSU: Corsair 950W

RAM: 4GB

Screen Resolution: 1920 x 1080

HDD: 1TB 7200 RPM Western Digital

I spawn in an open area with around 40-50 FPS. I start to move around and drop to 30-40 FPS. By the time I'm near zombies or buildings, I'm at 20 FPS or lower.

My computer is capable of running Battlefield 3 with high graphics, but not this?

Here are my video settings.

Visibility: 1200

Brightness: 1.6

Interface Resolution: Native

3D Resolution: Native

Texture Detail: High

Video Memory: Default

Anisotropic Filtering: High

Antialiasing: Disabled

Terrain Detail: Medium

Objects Detail: Medium

Shadow Detail: High (made no difference with this at medium, high or disabled)

Post Process Effects: Disabled

Interface: Small

Aspect Ratio: 16:9 (i think)

With these settings, I would expect 40-70 FPS, but apparently not :-/

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also I'm running the game and mod on the newest versions.

I was having the same problems and asked a few people as well and apparently the servers have a bug that causes people to have extreme FPS drops and they are trying to fix it for the next update. The most common answer is to just keep changing servers until you find a decent one that does not have the drop in FPS.

its a know issue, im sure they're working it

its to do with the servers not your pc,

iv found some servers really slow your pc down (not lag) whilst other dont, so try different servers.
