Different Profiles

I can understand that this could be abused, maybe make it so that you can't log onto the same server with two different profiles. But I think it would be nice to have at least two so that you can play with your buddies on one profile and if they are not around use your other one.

Yes sir. I think they would essentially need to perform a lot of re-coding in order to get what you want.

Currently, the system is based off your cd-key, regardless of the profile you make in the Multiplayer section. I would assume that an ARMA 3 or standalone version of DayZ will perhaps incorporate a login system like WoW, where you can have multiple characters.

Gameplay wise I don't see them changing this. You're supposed to value your life and that value forces you to access risks and rewards that wouldn't have the same impact if you had another profile waiting for you. Plus the abuse with hoarding supplies on a "slave alt" would just ruin the experience.

I get where you're coming from about it being abused. But I have a brother that wants to play the game just like me, we don't want to share the same character. Think about the people that would use a multiple character file feature who are in the same boat as me. If this was implemented, i can have my own character and my brother can have his and everybody is happy.

We shouldn't give up on this idea too soon. If we put our heads together, we might find a way this can be implemented without it being abused.

This right here. While technically there is nothing to stop you from having a "slave alt" as he put it, or a "mule" as some might call it. The only way you can do that right now is to buy another Arma2 key. At that point, if you REALLY want to spend 30 bucks to game the system, I guess it's your money... right?
