Yeah so I was trying to pitch a tent near Berezino, but each time I tried on a fairly flat surface, it failed

I am trying to pitch a tent and getting the same problem. I'm beginning to think that he means a level area free of other objects because I can't seem to pitch one anywhere the is an incline at all.

Fireplaces had the same problem before. I'm sure the problem with tents will be solved too.

Ok, you seem like first time tent owners so ill be nice. aim at the ground bring up your gear menu and then slow walk backwards while right clicking and saying place tent continue doing this until it goes down shouldnt take you more than 5 meters.
