Windows and Dayz so Far

Recommended Posts

Alright so I boot camped Windows 8 CP and well, there is no sound.

I tried everything I could to try and fix it, but to no avail I just could not.

DayZ is everything I ever could want in a game, but is it worth playing without any sound at all?

I play without music and other then not hearing gun fire and zombie moans and perhaps someone walking right next to you in plain sight it isn't totally needed...

maybe you should just get another OS?

I'm not too optimistic about paying for another OS when I blew 1.2k on an OS that can't play games :/

This is a joke right. You didn't really pay 1.2k for an OS... Maybe your computer. In which case you can easily obtain a new OS that doesn't suck balls.

"m betting your problem has nothing to do with dayz but probably bad sound drivers for whatever card your using ... check with your sound card vendor to see if they have a win 8 driver ....

wooooooow. wasting 1.2k on an OS that isn't even in full release yet? you're a special kind of sucker, man. i'm sure it was bundled with a new computer, there is NO way anyone can justify that much money for a consumer preview, but you could have just gotten the same box with Win7 and been good to go.

Yeah...for an extra $100.

Do you really need to ask someone who loads up Windows 8 on a Mac to play Arma II that question?

Is this a joke?

Get your computer savvy friend to install a custom or torrented OS.

If your computer friend got you this computer.

Get a new friend.

Well I'm sorry if it looks all shiny and good, I didn't realize it can't run most games until I actually got it D:

I'm not rocket surgeon, but I'm fairly certain that the 1.2k he is referring to was for the Mac OS, hence the need for Boot Camp....

Most laptops are shit for gaming anyway. And Macs are way overpriced compared to PCs with similar specs. You didn't do your research and you got burned.

Alright, the question is : Will the game be worth getting even if I had no sound at all?

Yes, sound is critical to the game. Maybe even more so then others. Nothing more ominous then hearing gun shots in the town you are coming up to...

If you can get Win7 drivers for all the hardware in your Mac spend the $99.99 (Win 7 x64 Home Premium OEM on NewEgg) and play the game the way it is meant to be played. And don't tell me the $100 is a killer - you bought a Mac, obviously you weren't too concerned about a few bucks here or there.

Can't believe OP bought a Mac and expected it to game. I built my desktop for under 1k and I'm pretty sure it has more GPU processing power (measured in FPS) and CPU power (measured in GHz, weighted first by core count and second by thread count) than all of his benchmarks doubled.

boot camping with windows 8 was a mistake, reformat and bootcamp with windows 7

i play dayz on my late 2011 mbp 2.2 i7 quad core 8gb ram and 512mb amd card just fine on high---but i am booting windows 7 ultimate x64 though.

mac osx imho is more suited for user friendly use...

windows os is the better for gaming

There seems to be a pattern with windows os...

Windows XP = good

Windows Vista = bad

Windows 7 = good

Windows 8 = _____ <---fill in the blank based on patttern....

Just my opinion...
