Hey guys, ive been playing standalone for 51 hours over the last 2 weeks, and i decided to install arma 2 and the day z mod, it hasn't finished downloading but anyway, when i try to join any server with any ping i keep getting the message saying session lost. any help plz

You have arma 2 and arma 2 OA? Have you launched both games once in steam? Did you accidentally join server where you need to download another map/mod?

arma 2 CO  hasn't  finished downloading, ive only ever played day standalone, so when i try join a server on standalone i only get session lost. do you get it?

Increased load on your connection due to you downloading A2 may cause you to loose connection while trying to joint a server.

IIRC if you have the A2/OA seperate in steam you had to do something to make it run as combined operations or something like that.

 

Also many private hives will auto DC you if you dont have additional mods installed. Finally, make certain both your arma and dayz are fully patched to the latest version. DayZ commander is a nice user friendly utility to automate this for you. alternatively, you can get the latest build of A2OA from the A2 website.
