Performance Issues with Dayz

Recommended Posts

Hi all-

I'm mainly making this thread to make sure that I've configured my parts correctly, since I put a lot of money into them and don't seem to be seeing very great results.

My rig is:

GeForce GTX 780

i5 2500 @  3.3gHz

8gb RAM @ 2100 mHz

60 gb SSD for certain games, including DayZ Standalone (not sure what speed)

1 TB HDD for os and rest of files

And yet, even on the LOWEST (I mean everything off or very low) at 1920x1080 (native monitor res), I can barely manage 40 fps in forests and cities, sometimes dropping into the 30s. For this kind of rig, I feel like I should be able to at least get a solid 50 wherever I go, but not so.

Is this a problem with my rig? With the game? With software?

I dropped a lot on that gpu and playing games sub 60 fps is not what I had in mind when I bought it.

Thanks

Alot of the graphics settings when set to low will offload to the cpu which is usually the bottleneck with arma2 anyways.  Try setting most things to normal if you can't shut them off altogether, there are plenty of settings tutorials that go into greater detail.  Overclocking your cpu will net you some frames but with arma2/dayz SA you will never be happy watching a frame counter, best off to shut it off and if it is playable smooth be happy :P

Oh, I didn't know that. I'll try fiddling some more, thanks.

SaveMeJebus is right, even on low end PCs things like textures can be on very high and affect positively FPS.

Search for guides on the forum, you'll have to play a bit with that.

I posted to underline that this game is in early alpha, and that major client optimisation is usually a beta task: so you will see an improvement over time anyway, we'll just have to be (a lot) patient.
