Cannot join dayz server

Hello!

 

I am very confused about why, with my dayz standalone, that I cannot join a server. The video I watched told me to go to Remote, and enter a server IP there, but that doesn't work. Instead, when I do that, the server shows up, but with a red X to the far left of it. Also, when I press connect, it registers that I pressed connect, but it never connects me. Do I need to just wait for it to open? Or is there something else wrong? Please help me!

If there's a red x, then you're trying to join an experimental server as a base user, or joining a base server a an experimental user. I take it you want to connect to a specific server? If not, just go to "change server" and that list populates dozen of servers.
