What's the best way to help others?

The scenario I envision here is there's someone on the ground who is either bleeding to death or unconscious and there is (assumed) no external threat.

Should I just drop some supplies nearby and take off?

Also, does putting your cursor over someone really generate a bandit heartbeat if they've killed innocents before?

If they are in a life or death situation like passed out bleeding I would say clear the zombies if possible bandage them and leave them while they are still knocked out.

If you did that I highly doubt they would try to attack you.

Also if they have a broken leg go up to them but out of site ask them if they need morphine. If there is no reponse leave them be if they ask yes give it to them and leave.

But I don't recommend going up to someone who is fine and asking them if they want to team up or need help because most likely it won't end well.

The heartbeat is not the best indicator of a bandit or not. It's there to add more suspense.

I'd kill the guy and take his stuff. Don't trust anyone you don't already know when you have supplies.

Yes, the heartbeats real, but it's hard to hear. If you trust them, try it, but don't take your cursor off them.

Killing for loot isn't my style. Dropping off some spare meat and bandages like a god damned post apocalyptic tooth fairy is always on my list of things to do before I die, that is, without getting killed doing it.

Plus that way when I do kill someone, it will be because I've seen/felt them in action and fucking hate their guts so everytime I glace over at the murders/bandits killed I can think back to everyone of those moments and smile.

I would hang out by the coast with extra weapons in your pack, find a new spawned person and offer them a weapon. I have done this a bit and have not been shot yet after helping them. They always seem grateful.

Bandit heartbeat range is 15 meters. If they are a bandit you've probably already been shot long before that.

The best way to help others without risk is probably avoid them (bandages aren't that rare), shoot aggro zombies or go anti-PK if you are geared and good... but spotting PK's is pretty hard work without bandit skins and the good ones will be geared and working in groups.

Cutting all the damn wires in some of the "beginner" buildings would definitely help. Server hopping and clearing all the wires would help so many new people. They would actually be able to get some better loot that way when they finally make it to a nice, lootable building (which honestly isn't too hard)
