Firefights and Zed Oddities

Good afternoon everyone!

I just had a thing happen to me and I wanted to share it in order to see if it's a thing or I was just oh so unlucky.

 

So, I was looting the prison-like building north of the NWAF (the one with the well and a few industrial buildings around y'know?) when I suddenly heard gunshots coming from south. An SKS.

Curious, I head down to see what's happening and to maybe get some free loot, but, as I move down the hill towards the gunshots, they start getting quieter and quieter. Note: they stared getting quieter even before I moved, so I didn't go in the opposite direction.

 

I end up in the woods east of the tent camp in the AF, the gunshots ended about a minute before and I am scouting to see the winner. With no luck, but that's beyond the point.

From then to about 15 minutes later, despite being about 150 meters from the tent camp, a ton of zombies spawn on me and attack me. I started counting after a while and I had to stop at least 17 zeds (without the ones I killed before counting, they might have been like... 4 or 5.).

 

Note that I didn't fire a single shot, but I was very close from where the firefight happened. Can it be related to it? Just, zombies swarming the first living thing where a firefight happened a moment before?

Its normal actually, zombies attack the area from where the gun was fired... They dont attack the specific person who fired it... So thats a tactic you use, if youre trapped in a building with people outside, (like inside a jail cell on the AF) shoot your gun and draw out the Z's...

When zombies die, they respawn within so many meters (up to 200 I think?). What I think happened, some bored guy was using his SKS to take out a horde of zeds he gathered (actually pretty fun) and the majority of them happened to spawn within sight of you first rather than SKS guy.

 

Edit: Just to give an example, I was brushing up on my sniping at the tent area at NWAF, shot a few zeds in the gated in zone. Two seconds later I'm looking out at the fields towards Bashnya (prison in the woods where you were at) and I spy zeds popping up in the field and near the treeline, not aggroed on anything yet since they spawned so far away.
