thorpey85 8 Posted April 10, 2014 (edited) here's a little post about an experiment we tried...to be nice in day z So a few friends and i have been playing Day Z for a month now and we have gone on, what I would call the usual player ark. We started off with a seemingly endless supply of enthusiasm and happiness at this new game, and then we met our first bandit, we were killed without warning or knowledge of our murderer, a one off I told myself, a chance encounter, then it happened again and again and my supply off happiness dwindled until the moment came when I killed my first bandit, the joy the elation, I was not a victim anymore, I was the victor.So the group of people I play with became a band of hardened killers hunting and stalking people setting ambushes and laying traps, we killed without mercy and remorse, it was them or us was the usual justification so what next we thought….the answer came from an unlikely source.The source was a person who had never played Day Z but had heard our conversations about it, his advice was to be nice…. Be nice we scoffed, not a chance, where’s the fun in that we said,But something stuck or resonated with us, we had a plan we would scavenge supplies that newbies would need, go to a point on the coast we could defend and give these supplies to people who need them.At first people were untrusting of a heavily armed player offering a player some beans, so I took my clothes off, t shirt and trousers only, people were more receptive we had our first customer, he was nervous at first but he left with a smile on his face a friendly wave and pockets full of Tactical Bacon, and we felt good, It was strange, no adrenaline no fear just good, we carried on being nice but all the while looking out for bandits we knew were close (judging by the number of stripped players who had been mugged not far from us ) we were waiting with two snipers armed to the teeth on a roof top, But none came our snipers busied themselves by taking out zombies chasing newbiesAll in all we only had to deal with one player who spawned in and immediately tried to assault a player I was trying to help, I pulled out my concealed 1911, fired a warning shot, he then ran at me, so I put him down with two shots to the chest. kingbritain 63 Posted April 15, 2014 That sounds really cool. I think a cool feature would be UN safe houses on the coast with players masquerading as UN troops handing out basic supplies (food, improvised courier bag, etc) and letting players go and start their own safe houses. Even if its running around scavenging food for these new players, I'm down!Also, UN resupply site? Brilliant idea! My character was wearing a blue construction helmet for the longest time!
